9:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting volunteers for a native grass harvest project at Suncoast Youth Conservation Center, 6650 Dickman Rd, Apollo Beach, FL 33572 on October 21 from 9 AM to 12 PM. The project involves pulling plant plugs from the ground of the marsh that will be planted in our Bay Grasses in Classes (BGIC) school nurseries. Our BGIC program provides the opportunity for Tampa Bay area students to participate in habitat restoration projects of degraded wetlands across the watershed.

This is a muddy project; you'll need to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty.  Please wear closed-toed shoes that tie to your feet. Bring a towel to dry off and a plastic bag to put your wet shoes in when finished. Bring a change of shoes and clothes if you like. We will provide gloves, but participants may bring their own garden gloves if preferred. Please wear sun protection (sunscreen, shade hat, sunglasses) and bring a water bottle. We will provide tools, water coolers, and snacks!
