Tampa Bay Watch, in partnership with Stewards of Our Urban Lakes, is recruiting volunteers for a community planting event at Mastry Lake Park, located at 14th Street N. and 64th Avenue N. in the Meadowlawn neighborhood of St. Petersburg on Saturday, October 17 from 9 AM to 12 PM. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in. 

Volunteers will help harvest a variety of native community-grown freshwater wetland plants and transplant them along the shoreline of Mastry Lake. These plants will provide valuable wildlife habitat, improve water quality, and help stabilize the shoreline.

Please be prepared to get wet and muddy. Wear closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work. Bring rubber boots or shoes that you do not mind getting wet, as some planting will take place in shallow water. We also recommend bringing sun protection, including sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, as well as a reusable water bottle. All tools, gloves, plants, water, and snacks will be provided. There is no parking lot on the site. Street parking is recommended. Carpooling or walking/biking is encouraged. This project is family friendly and open to all ages, but volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
