Native Planting at Robinson Preserve

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday September 24

9:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

In partnership with Manatee County, Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting volunteers for a nursery planting and harvest at a community wetland nursery located at Geraldson's Community Farm (1401 99th St. NW, Bradenton, FL 34209) on February 15 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The planting portion of the project involves taking bare-root plants and planting them into pots to grow in our wetland nurseries for future community plantings. Additionally, we will be harvesting plants to be used in an upcoming native planting project at Tom Bennett Park on February 17 by splitting the plants for easier transplanting.

With nursery events, prepare to get dirty. We will provide gloves but feel free to bring your own garden gloves if you prefer. Bring a pair of boots if you have them as it would be helpful to have one or two people assisting in removing and placing plants into the nurseries which will have water in them.  We have tables to work on but you may wish to bring a folding camp chair. We will have water coolers but please bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide all required materials, bug spray, sunscreen, breakfast, and snacks!
