Harvesting grasses

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday December 1

9:00 AM  –  11:00 AM

Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting ten volunteers for a native grass harvest project at Florida Fish and Wildlife Fish Hatchery at Port of Manatee where they have a donor marsh. The address of Port Manatee is 14495 Harllee Road, Palmetto, FL 34221-9620. We will be pulling the plugs of plants from the ground of the marsh (it's tough work!) which will be planted later that week to restore the shoreline of MacDill Air Force Base.

This is a muddy project, you will get wet & dirty! You'll need to wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dirty. Wear shoes that tie to your feet. Do not wear flip flops or crocs. Bring a towel to dry off and a plastic bag to put your wet shoes in when finished. Bring a change of shoes and clothes if you like. Please bring a water bottle to fill up and carry with you. We will have a cooler of water to refill your bottle. Wear a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and bring garden gloves. Bring a snack!
